You're invited to the summer's biggest photo party at a private beer garden floating above the Mission.

Enjoy great food, local beer, interesting conversations, prizes and rockstar photo & film projects, while supporting a worthy cause!

A Visual History of the Mission
SF Public Library's Photo Curator kicks off our special Mission themed lineup with never-before-seen images spanning more than 100 years of Mission history. Don't miss this rare window into the forgotten past of San Francisco's most famous neighborhood!

 

RJ Muna
The Art of the Dance
Legendary commercial photographer RJ Muna shows highlights from his decades documenting dance, including his instantly recognizable ODC images. A former gymnast, RJ will talk about gaining the trust of his subjects, pushing their limits and the challenges of shooting an unfinished dance piece.

  Lonny Shavelson
Christian Jews in the Mission
One of Open Show's favorite Bay Area multimedia documenters returns to present one of his vignettes from the growing online SFportals series. Journey with Lonny as he goes from stumbling on a story to stepping into the hidden world next door.
 

 
Gabriela Hasbun
Mission Miracle Mile
Born and raised in El Salvador, Gabriela Hasbun specializes in quirky environmental portraits. This previous Open Show SF presenter will show her long-term work on the shop owners that have been on Mission Street for over 25 years. Known as the 'Mission Miracle Mile' after surviving the 1906 earhtquake, the area was previously second only to Union Square.

La Bicicleta Vieja
Contributing reporter Claudia from the hyperlocal bilingual news outfit Mission Loc@l captures Mission mainstay and used bike king Don Rafa in this short film. Mission Loc@l's team includes reporters from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, San Francisco State, City College and the community.

Open Show organizes live events worldwide where the public can see compelling work and interact directly with photographers, filmmakers and multimedia producers in high‐profile spaces.

 

Chinese Whispers is a community-based storytelling project about contemporary folk memories of the Chinese who helped build the Transcontinental Railroad and settlements of the American West.
